　　 欧罗拉的目标是举办一个包含多个离子通道研究议题的国际性学术会议，让世界知名的离子通道研究科学家共聚一堂。每一年，研究学者借用温哥华离子通道年会的平台，讨论有关于离子通道方面的研究以及技术，从药物研发领域到药物安全评估。

　　 今年首次在中国广州开办第二场会议，即2014离子通道国际论坛（简称IICR），预定在11月5-7日在广州粤海喜来登酒店举行。欢迎广大研究科学家参加。

　　 聚焦离子通道研究应用与技术的专题会议，致力于分享交流最新突出研究成果并将其投入开发应用的会议，是结合科学基础研究、试验开发以及应用实践整个流程的学术产业会议。

　　背景介绍

　　 活体细胞不停地进行新陈代谢活动，就必须不断地与周围环境进行物质交换，而细胞膜上的离子通道就是这种物质交换的重要途径。例如各种水溶性离子、糖类、大分子有机物等，出入的通道就是细胞膜上的离子通道。离子通道由细胞产生的特殊蛋白质构成，它们聚集起来并镶嵌在细胞膜上，中间形成水分子占据的孔隙，这些孔隙就是水溶性物质快速进出细胞的通道。离子通道的活性，就是细胞通过离子通道的开放和关闭调节相应物质进出细胞速度的能力，对实现细胞各种功能具有重要意义。两名德国科学家埃尔温•内尔和贝尔特•扎克曼即因发现细胞内离子通道并开创膜片钳技术而获得1991年的诺贝尔生理学奖。

　　 离子通道对于生物具有十分重要的生理意义。例如，触发肌肉收缩、神经和肌肉等兴奋性细胞的调节、腺体分泌、神经突触传递、维持细胞正常渗透压和体积、蛋白激酶的激活和基因表达的调节等一系列生理效应。离子通道的功能一旦出现不同程度的削弱或增强，就可能导致机体整体生理功能的紊乱，出现某些先天性和后天获得性疾病，如老年性痴呆症（AD）、脑缺血、心率不齐、癫痫、头痛肌肉痉挛等等。另外，美国FDA针对药品上市hERG测试规定，也促进了离子通道在临床医学的研究。根据不良反应事件报道，某些临床药物可引起患者长QT间期症状，引发心率不整。

　　After 12 years of hosting the annual Ion Channel Retreat in Vancouver, Aurora Biomed is expanding its global reach to include a second retreat in Guangzhou, China. The International Ion Channel Retreat 2014 welcomes scientists from a variety of research laboratories representing the full spectrum of non-profit, academic, biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Set to be held November 5th -7th 2014, the 2014 International Ion Channel Retreat will showcase the importance of new drug discovery research, as well as the importance of producing new screening technologies, while maintaining or improving safety and efficacy of target compounds. We have also added new elements that extend the scope of our Vancouver retreat, including the New Horizons of Life Sciences workshop,and more applicable topics like Neurodegenerative Diseases, Stem Cells, and Alcohol, Tobacco & Drug Abuse.
